Instructions for Patients:

– One member of your family will be allowed to accompany you during ultrasound
– There is no preparation for a vaginal ultrasound
– A vaginal ultrasound is preferably done shortly after the period has stopped. It can be done any time of the cycle if the need arises
– For endometriosis /Congenital uterine malformations, the best time is within the 2 weeks leading up to your period
– Before going to bed, take 2 tablets of a laxative (Dulcolax )to keep the bowels empty
– For an abdominal ultrasound bladder needs to be full, you should have the sensation of passing urine before the examination
– For Obstetric, Antenatal & Intrapartum Ultrasound, there is no radiation involved
– Early pregnancy: Confirmation, dating, viability ,position of implantation, any abnormalities of the uterus or other organs in he pelvis TIFFA scan 20 – 24 weeks gestation. A detailed evaluation will be done at this time, checking your baby’s growth and development
– Growth scan -anytime after 28 weeks to check your baby’s growth
– You may have more ultrasounds scheduled due to various other reasons not listed above
